Classes for You!

Are you aware that you breathe about 22,000 times per day? How you feel is closely linked to how you breathe, and how you breathe influences how you feel. Are you breathing well and optimally?

Breath-Body-Mind (BBM) classes offer a range of effective and powerful movement and regulating breathing techniques for stress reduction and resilience building. BBM was developed from ancient practices and researched by medical doctors and psychiatrists Richard P. Brown, MD, and Patricia Gerbarg, MD. - authors of the Healing Power of the Breath.

Chronic stress has a negative impact on emotional and physical health. By learning to optimise breathing and movement practices for yourself you can increase your resilience, and sense of wellbeing. People who attend BBM classes regularly report improved sleep, and increased energy, and they feel happier and calmer and smile more often.

Coherent or resonant breathing is the fundamental breathing practice of BBM. Studies have concluded that the ideal rate for coherent breathing is between four and six breaths per minute.

Some people find the quiet and stillness of mindfulness and meditation practices challenging, even unbearable at first. A slowed, even breathing rate is more easily achieved when accompanied by simple regulating movements. Coordinating and connecting movement speed with the breath cultivates increased mind and body awareness, and your autonomic nervous system (ANS) becomes increasingly regulated with practice over time.
